The Lost Mojo

So it was only in the last weekend of the month that I had finally given up. Not on work (If only I dared), earning the bread (Haha), paying the bills (I wish)- but on the plain art of what people call "chilling", The next time you pick up the phone and send a pretend-sad text to that friend with the lamest excuse which will save you a bout of socializing, you'll know what I am talking about. Before you say a resounding "yes that happens all the time", read on to know what I actually mean.

You do face detachment from time to time, but this is different. You want to breathe in the fresh air, maybe dance a little and even down those 2 Caprioskas, but something freezes you out. This unknown phenomenon is not common to those who indulge in the love of all the activities mentioned above. And this, dear reader, is what I term as the case of "THE LOST MOJO".

Before I touch upon how we get it back, I want to dwell on how we lose it in the first place. The whole process begins when we start wearing the same white fur hoods and find cozy comfort in the shelter of the sheep herd. Not valuing our own sentiments or preferences and following everyone's opinions apart from ourselves. Thinking about things that make you seem "uncool" in front of your ever "cool" friends is just another aristocracy. When too much of all this happens, the firmest of people lose their grip on their own wishes- their own selves. The loss of a dream, a loved one or even the slightest change in your life makes us a derailed train. We look for opportunities to smile, but fail ourselves every time we fight. The only way is to stop with the brain churning!

The only way to get back the lost spark is by giving yourself the one much-needed boost of confidence in your own choices. Speak loud and clear, hold the eye-contact and let yourself be heard! Most importantly, learn to laugh at yourself and just summon up the guts to leave it all behind for sometime. Pack your bags and head to a place that makes you happy (take that literally or as a metaphor- whatever suits). Make an effort because the white wool crowd might bore you, scandalize you and disappoint you at times- they are all you have.

It isn't a disease if you don't impress anyone in doing what you love or being what you are, just don't forget to laugh and spread laughter. Because a Mojo lost in yourself and gifted to others is better than the opposite. Experience happiness in every breath and just maybe your cheeks will regain your sheen again! Okay, back to work everyone. Weekend is coming though- maybe, just maybe I'll have a good time :)

Waking Up

Given the present scenario, one would know that the be-all and end-all of all human problems are related to money. If you can’t match up to the neighbors style of living, it’s a cause to avoid eye-contact when you meet them in the lift. You stop being an idiot when you hold a “smart”phone, and if it is a premium- your intellect gets upgraded by 100 points. Hurray! If you don’t have the resources to show off the charging horses on your tee-shirts, there’s a fair chance that you might be charged off for good. To be a social recluse isn’t fun, so let’s spend more on things that we can afford on a borderline.

I am not saying that it is foul to invest in the things that we usually do. But the worst thing is that we have stopped doing things for ourselves and more for the Social Media. The people who invented the channels where you spill your life details have immortalized their names by doing what they did. While their luxurious lives inspire many to become like them, what we end up doing is imitate the outwardly details instead of trailing in their path of hard work, failures and successes.

So, being a part of a unified group of self-contained humans who come across as loaded train wrecks as a troop might be fun. But those who are wholesome and well-read might know that there’s definitely a lot more to life than that. In shutting ourselves off to a world where the quality of our lives is measured by others, we forget to explore what the world meant for us to see.

My semi-evolved mind holds these ideas out of longing to be appreciated as a human and not as a self-imagined goddess of finery. I aspire to be able to afford the finest things in the world, but hold the finest people even closer. I want to value people for their kindness, ingenuity and intellect and share memories of the far-off places that I traveled to find them. I want to hold my family closer and shoo away those who are “classless” enough to judge them on “class”.

The hidden valleys of far-off places with immortalized history and art is losing the waging war against the suites and spas of well-endowed cities. The age-old whiskeys and expensive wine bottles hold promise of Utopian nights. Nature holds promise of well-being and beautiful days. Each part of the coin is essential in life. We just have to make sure that we don’t beat probability by flicking it to one side every time we toss it.
